Ever since Dum Maaro Dum was unveiled, Rohan Sippy has been in the eye of the storm. Whether it’s Bipasha Basu and Rana Daggubati’s alleged affair, the drama over “misrepresentation” of Goans or the “appalling” portrayal of women, Sippy has been on the hit-list for all and sundry.
While some of these controversies might’ve gone a long way in determining its box-office success and generated more funds in Sippy’s kitty, it’s the latest SMS row that’s going to stick out like a sore thumb. In fact, it’s a strategy where most film-makers blindly generate rumours and controversies, only to play up the adage “any publicity is good publicity”.
But the latest bid by his friend (or foe) filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma just ruins Sippy’s party even before it kicked-off.
Our sources reveal that RGV has been texting everyone in his phonebook about the film’s ending and has been ridiculing Abhishek's performance in it. Apparently Sippy got a whiff of RGV’s misdoings after friends who attended his personal trial discussed about receiving these texts.
A source who got the text message spoke to a Mumbai tabloid on condition of anonymity. "It gives away the suspense element of the film. I was shocked when I got such a text directly from Ramu. Everyone knows DMD is a closely-guarded film and Rohan has been trying to keep it that way. It was a huge surprise for the audience. And now, he has spoilt it for us!"
While the industry insiders often pretend to be tight, even when they are not, this latest news just proves that in the world of glitz and glamour you can’t trust anyone.
We are appalled at RGV’s unprofessionalism and cheap tricks to spoil Sippy’s probable dream-run at the box-office.
