It’s not easy stepping into Kamal Haasan’s shoes. And reprising a
role that the legendary superstar did over three decades ago can be
quite a daunting task for any actor. Teen heartthrob Varun Sandesh,
who’s doing the 21st century remake of the yesteryear classic Maro
Charitra, is not comfortable with any comparisons.
“That film was a cult classic. We’ve just retained the soul of the
original and adapted it with new-age protagonists and exotic
locations,” he elaborates. The middle-class Balu in the original
becomes a smart NRI with loads of attitude and Niagra Falls replaces
the beaches of Vizag.
